Description of Classes

Chorus: Elementary students will have the opportunity to sing in a chorus with different vocal arrangements.  Primary children will have the opportunity to sing in a chorus along with their hand bells.  Each group will perform their works during the closing recital.

Hand bells: All children will participate with hand bells within their groups.  Primary chorus and hand bells are combined.  In hand bells, students will have the opportunity to play in a bell choir.  Each group will perform a song in the closing recital.

​

Jazz Dance: All students will participate in a jazz dance.  Each group will perform a dance at the closing recital.

​

Orff: All students will have the opportunity to play Orff instruments in their groups.  Instruments used in Orff are xylophones, glockenspiels, metallophones, drums, and various other percussion instruments.  Children will also sing along with the instruments in this class.

​

Teen Ensemble: Junior and senior groups will have the opportunity to sing an ensemble with different vocal arrangements.  They will also be given the opportunity to play instruments and dance within this group.  Past years students have had the opportunity to use percussion instruments and ukuleles in their performance at the closing recital.

Piano: All children will have the opportunity to learn the piano at music camp.  All primary children will participate in a piano class, however, elementary and teens are given the opportunity to choose from piano, musical heritage, and composition (dependent on experience).

Art: Students are given the choice to participate in an art class.  In these classes, experienced art teachers will give them the opportunity to explore various mediums as individuals and as a group.

​

Drama:  Students are given the choice to participate in drama class.  In this class, students learn to improvise, create sketches, and work together to form a skit.  Children will perform what they worked on during the Puppetry and Drama Showcase.

​

Band: Children who have experience with band instruments will have the opportunity to play in the music camp band.  They will work together with other students to create a performance for the closing recital. 

​

Strings: Children who have experience with string instruments will have the opportunity to play in the music camp strings ensemble.  They will work together with other students to create a performance for the closing recital.
